PopCap Games are the publishers of the Bejeweled series, for which they have been inducted into the Computer Gaming World Hall of Fame. They are one of the world's pre-eminent casual gaming software developers. As a part of their business plan, they have become known for the extreme adaptability of their offerings, making sure that their work is available on the widest possible number of platforms. Since the start of the 2010s, this has meant that they have particularly worked on making sure their products were available on many different mobile platforms.
Founded in 2000, the company was built on the success of the original Bejeweled game. It thrived as an independent publisher for over a decade, during which it acquired Sprout Games' Feeding Frenzy to its offerings. Later, it also bought Retro64. In 2011, it was bought by Electronic Arts, where it remains a separately-branded unit as of 2018. Since the acquisition PopCap has seen its focus shift more firmly onto mobile gaming, its pre-EA employee force shrink, and most of its founders depart.
In addition to Bejeweled, PopCap are also the creators of the Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle, and Zuma franchises, amongst others.
