10 Years of Bejeweled (also referred as The Year of Bejeweled) was an ongoing celebration for the Bejeweled series, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the original Bejeweled game. The 10 Years of Bejeweled celebration took place from February 10, 2010 to 2011. PopCap celebrated the anniversary with several events and new games. Several Bejeweled series products released during the anniversary featured the 10th anniversary logo.

Celebration[]

PopCap announced the celebration in February 10, 2010,[1] stating they would begin celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Bejeweled series with several new products and events.

On March 30, 2010,[2] a downloadable PC version of Bejeweled Blitz was announced, based on the in-development Bejeweled 3 engine. The PC version was released on April 5, 2010.[3] The PC Download version featured upgraded graphics, new music, and smoother gameplay. The PC Download version was discontinued on September 7, 2011, as PopCap shifted focus to making content for the web and mobile versions of the game.

On April 23, 2010, the Show Your Bejeweled Love contest took place.

On June 16, 2010,[4] a downloadable version of Bejeweled 2 was released for the Wii's WiiWare platform on the Wii Shop Channel. The WiiWare version featured compressed music and lacked the secret game modes but added Miis, which are used as profiles and react to the player's gameplay, as well as online leaderboard functionality being included. The online leaderboard function was discontinued following the shut down of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in 2014. The game is no longer purchasable as of 2019, due to the closure of the Wii Shop Channel.

On October 10, 2010, the PC and Mac version of Bejeweled 2 became available for free. The event lasted one day only.[5]

On November 1, 2010,[6] Bejeweled 3 was announced for release on PC and Mac, and was released on December 7, 2010. The release of Bejeweled 3 marked the first time a new mainline entry in the Bejeweled series was released in 6 years. Bejeweled 3 borrows elements and it's visual style from Bejeweled Twist and Blitz, and features 8 game modes.

The celebration concluded in early 2011.
