The below list contains information on the poker hands which are created in Poker mode and the Poker mini-quests of Quest mode. There are seven different types of hands, each created in a unique way.
All hands award points. Generally, poker hands that are more common will award less points than rarer ones. Also, hands give less points in the mini-quests than in the actual gamemode. Hands awarding more points are able to eliminate Skulls quicker.

A hand that contains two cards of the same gem type, plus two cards of another gem type (that match each other but not the first pair), plus any card not of either gem type.  3 of a Kind |

 Full House |
A hand that contains two matching cards of one gem type and three matching cards of another gem type. Upon making this hand, flashing lights appear alongside the edges of the game board. In Poker mode, creating this hand fills half (50%)

 4 of a Kind |
A hand that contains four matching cards of one gem type and a card of another gem type. Upon making this hand, yellow five-pointed stars emanate from the center of the game board.  Flush |
A hand in which all five cards are the same gem type. Upon making this hand, many sparkles and spots of light (similar to those of displays created by disco balls) appear (Except DS version with only spots of light).
