When the player begins a game with Big Apple activated, one of three special starting layouts appears. All three configurations include unique red gems that resemble apples; these function identically to Flame Gems. The base value for clearing an apple is 50 points. While Big Apple is active, apples replace random red gems throughout the game, and Flame Gems created using red gems become apples instead.
After the Last Hurrah, a Coin bonus occurs in which nine apple icons appear in a 3×3 arrangement. When the player selects an icon, it reveals a numerical Coin value that is then added to the player's Coin total. The Coin payouts the bonus offers are 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 7,500, and 10,000. The 2,000- and 5,000-Coin payouts repeat three times each.
Power Apple was an upgraded version of Big Apple released on August 28, 2015. For one week, apples had thunderbolts engraved in their centers and released electrified explosions when cleared from the board. The base value for clearing an apple was 300 points.
- The name of this Rare Gem is a pun on the "Big Apple", a nickname for New York City.
